Lyngsoe Systems’ Intelligent Material Management System™ (IMMS) First Customer in the United States

The Sacramento Public Library is Delighted to be Working with Lyngsoe Systems
to Combine Best Practices from the World of Logistics with Library Data Using IMMS.

Lyngsoe Systems is pleased to announce that The Sacramento Public Library has become the first US institution and the first institution outside Europe to opt for Lyngsoe Systems Intelligent Material Management System™. Sacramento Public Library will integrate IMMS with their Sierra Integrated Library System from Innovative, a ProQuest Company.

The Sacramento Public Library has served the people of Sacramento County for more than 150 years. While time and trends have changed the delivery of library services over the last century and a half, the Library has never changed its commitment to providing those services with excellence and professionalism.

Sacramento Public Library staff strive every day to exhibit the organizational values of trust, integrity, respect, and excellence, whether they are assisting a patron with a reference question, answering questions about electronic resources, vacuuming a community room, leading a toddler storytime, checking in and shelving materials, delivering a bin of requested items, recommending a great read or delivering one of the more than 3,900 programs delivered annually. Their overarching goal is to provide a breadth and depth of programs, services and materials that prepare young children for school, support ongoing student success, and create lifelong learners. Utilizing the latest technology, the Library bridges the digital divide, providing nearly 600,000 hours of access to digital content annually via 870 public computers and laptops.

IMMS complements Sierra and creates an unprecedented level of transparency in the material flow. Utilizing the latest tools for data collection, material management, and logistics, items can be floated according to specific profiles to the branches requiring it, without risking depleted or overflowing shelves in other areas of the system, greatly enhancing the number of different titles available for the patrons. IMMS greatly increases the quality of data and empower the staff to make evidence-based decisions. IMMS also helps prevent and/or detect handling errors and supplies accurate and detailed reports on item use and placements.
